Spring/Summer

Now, when there are just a few days until the new fashion season begins we have to consider our wardrobe for items that are in and those which must be out.
Looking at the designers’ collections for spring-summer 2009 I have noticed some changes and in this article I’m going to tell you what will look right for the new season and what should be hidden for better times. So, let’s begin.
1. Skinny jeans are no longer in fashion whist skinny leather pants of different colors will be top trendy!

2. Straight trousers with just a little volume at the hip area and made of thick fabrics must be changed for the ones more bulky at the top but narrower down to the ankles. Besides, they have to be made from soft materials.

3. No more fluffy prom-like gowns, prefer feminine cocktail mini-dresses.

4. Don’t dress in garments with formless shoulders and extremely wide sleeves. Choose broader shoulders that have made a huge comeback this season

Coats Spring-Summer

The fashion buying craze has occupied the minds of real vogue ladies on the threshold of warm spring. No doubts you’ll look fabulous in classic and new trends. However, the designers provoke us into the new purchases offering super trendy wardrobe basis – coats, trenches and classic rain-coats.
Let’s ponder over what to choose first!
Marc Jacobs presents his extra feminine coat-dress. It’s completely sensitive! Scarf-belt is an excellent decision for special evenings.
Comme des Garcons’s coat and dress are covered with the black petals that add some mystery to the image.
The trenches and coats from Yves Saint Laurent are a tender femininity. Black elegance decored with ornament or belt as an obligatory accessory stressing the thing waist. It’s always trendy!

Akris’s coats are classic for all seasons. Silhouette simplicity impresses with austere style. Minimum details. Gucci offers us the sort of youth collection full of short trenches in beige, white, khaki, grey palette. Lots of trendy details like sliders, fasteners, buckles and clasps.
Paul Smith created the thrilling image of an enigmatic woman using the silk, mousseline, pleats and flounces.

Vivienne Westwood’s structural rain coat is in Vivienne’s vision. It’s complicated, strange and sexy! Appropriate for the red carpet and office day as well.
Chloe take us back to childhood with the flower prints and soft fabrics: flannel, cotton – fingering for the romantic and sentimental girls. MaxMara developed the collection of one-color & colorful ensembles with plain straight lines and knees-up-length.
But in my opinion glam trend leaders this season are D&G, Oscar de la Renta and Versace. They combined greatly the sense of modesty, complexity, elegance and new fashion waves

Spring and Summer Collection

Handknitted Fashion

New Spring - Summer Fashion Collection hand knitted and crocheted women’s tops, blouses, jackets, outfits
The women’s spring-summer collection consists of pieces designed exclusively by Designer Galina Dacheva. Each design has been developed over a long period of time and is the result of her hard work and dedication, her feel for beauty and harmony.
The spring-summer collection shows an unexpected style – bold and sexy designs, created from traditional hand-knitting and crochet techniques. The entire collection presents a message to young women to express themselves and not to be afraid to show their individuality. The patterns and materials have been chosen among hundreds of alternatives, to give each design its unique outlook.
Hand knit spring - summer fashion has never looked so good. The colors you will see go beyond the frontiers - beginning with elegant black and white, passing through silver and gold and finishing with all the colors of the rainbow, turning individualism into a cult. And, of course, comfort and ease haven’t been overlooked, they are present in every Babini kuki garment. It could be an elegant outfit; a stunning, sexy top; a classic, stylish jacket; a beautiful blouse; a fashionable skirt; with accessories or without – it’s a matter of personal preference. Each design has its own charm, but they all serve one purpose – to make the person wearing them unique.
For the first time in our collections, we have crocheted items as well as hand-knits. This, in combination with great looking yarns – cotton or rayon knitted tape, makes our spring-summer fashion collection an exceptional one. At last, those who prefer the Babini kuki style can enjoy it all year round.

Summer Fashion Style

Just because you mentally check out when summer starts, that doesn't mean you have to surrender your style. These clothes are breezy and effortlessly beautiful — kinda like how you feel right about now.

Summer Fashion Tips

hot summer tips image
Summer fashion is heating up. From sporty and chic to lighter and brighter patterns, but first of all you must remember few important things to really look great and amazing this hot season.

1. Sun protection
Always wear a sunscreen. No matter where you are – at the beach, at work or at home, always wear sunscreen. The sun’s UV rays can easily damage your skin. The sun radiation make your skin age prematurely, change the skin’s structure and can form dark spots. Using sunscreens now would definitely deliver benefits later in life.

2. Let your skin breath
Leave the foundation off. Seriously, there is nothing worse than seeing a woman with greasy foundation. During the day use lighter products such as face powder or concealer and apply them only to the problem areas. You can use a little foundation in the evening to create more even base for the makeup, but choose oil-free product. Let your skin breath, even for a while.

3. Sun-kissed tan
A sun-kissed tan can make wonders for your appearance. Applying bronzers and bronzing powders are wonderful ways to give your face a sun-kissed tan.

4. Light shades
Keep the dark eyeshadows for the evening. Summer is the time for the light shades, close to your natural skin tone. A little sheen at the edge of the brows and brown mascara will liven up your face.

5. Water impermeability
We advise you not to go to the beach wearing makeup, but if you can’t – use waterproof products. Use waterproof mascara – it won’t dissolve in water, but never, never go to the beach wearing foundation or face powder.

6. Summer glow
Buy body lotion with light-reflecting ingredients and apply it to the whole body, but don’t forget to exfoliate your body beforehand. Your body will be dazzlingly and healthy-looking.

7. Fresh cheekbones
Use blusher to add color to your face and to warm up your skin. Smile and apply it with a wide sable brush to the cheeks.

8. Lovely feet
Do a pedicure to enhance the appearance of your feet – use light colors, pink, peachy, red and blue are appropriate for the hot summer months.

9. Protect your hair
Yes, as well as the skin, the hair is also susceptible to sun damage - use hair products with SPF protection, wear hats or head scarves.

10. Sun protection
Our first advice was to protect your skin from the sun, and it is the same and now. It’s really very important. Even if you don’t wear any makeup a sunscreen is a must.

Summer Fashion

With the summer sun already around, can summer fashion be far behind? Summer fashion clothing is usually simple, relaxed and comfortable. For the man in fashion wear, summer fashion means polo t-shirts for lazing around. Formal summer fashion wear would include pastel cotton shirts and linen suits. Summer fashion also extends to fashion swim wear. An important fashion accessory for the summer fashion is cool eyewear to keep out the sun's rays.

Spring Summer Fashion

It's about time to dress up for spring! It's the time to manage your wardrobe and get some fashionable pieces for refreshing spring weather and hot summer days. Let's take a look at hottest trends for spring and summer 2008.
Designers often choose muted shades for autumn-winter collections, and spring-summer often stuns with vivid colors. The trends of 2008 are no exceptional: We will see bright and bold colors on clothing, accessories and everything you can wear. Even "Technicolor brights" - neonic pink, green, yellow and orange - are fashionable once again. If clothing of such colors is too bright for you, pick several accessories to highlight your regular wear. Purple was the hit of the past season and it is still around for spring and summer 2008. But the shade of colors has changed a lot: forget the deep purple and violet, meet lilac, subtle amethyst and lavender tones. The sweet lilac shade fits another hot trend of summer 2008, the pale azure denim fabric.
If you're looking for trendy patterns of spring-summer 2008, reveal the blossom of your beauty with floral prints. Look for clothes with flower motives all over them, because a single herb embroidered on a blouse or jacket is not enough. If you don't feel like wearing colorful floral patterns, there's another classic combination ready for spring and summer. It doesn't matter if you choose black on white or white on black - it will be the most fashionable pattern of the season. All possible combinations of B&W ruled the runways and they will rule the streets for sure. Let's not forget ethnic trend; it's on top once again. Choose tribal inspired patterns and ikat fabric clothing and combine it with chunk tribal jewelry to create a safari-chic image.
Can you imagine spring fashion without a skirt or a dress? Spring and summer trends wouldn't be complete without amazing dress. Squishy skirt is the top for spring and it will hold its positions on summer as well. Choose high-waist silk organza skirt to stun everyone. This type of skirt looks great with another fashionable detail: the cropped jacket. The fashionable length of skirt and dresses became shorter; even though the knee-length remains popular, the hottest trend is a few inches above the knees.
Feminine glamour will take over all the women. Forget the image of bad girl and look like a lady, because you are one. Highlight your figure with lovely little dresses and see-through details. Naughty decorations are recommended for spring and summer of 2008: outfit decorated with ribbons, lace and bows will make you feel and look very feminine. Corset as outwear is trendy once again; wear it on top of shirt for sexy sophisticated look. The trend of transparent clothing doesn't make you walk around half naked: playing hide-and-seek with several layers makes you appear mysterious and alluring. Glamorous ancient Roman

Fashion Spring/Summer

Presented in five segments the collection with the glitter of Swarovski Elements was a modern look at fashion. "Color My World" was filled with a blitz of colours mixed with patchwork and mix and match options. A glamorous array of creations - chiffon coat, easy tunics, draped dresses, were worn with colourful tights. Zigzag print coats and side knotted minis, panelled beach wraps, Spanish black floral tunic, long ponchos and embroidered jackets along with belts in large crystals and metallic armbands and necklaces completed the look.
"Call of the Wild" was an animal print, motif and texture story with colours like black, beige, chocolate and a bit of turquoise. Slinky evening bias cut gowns dazzled with peridots and topaz. Net kaftans, layered frayed edged skirts, tiny blouses and capes and stoles had tie-dyed, shading and Shibori. The glam turbans and gold bronze armlets gave a luxurious look to the creations.
"Pucchi Prints" was all about graphics and geometrics for minis with fabric buttons, hip length fitted jackets, skinny pants with slits and zips, and stately gowns in peach, cobalt, blue and emerald green. Hooded long gowns, psychedelic minis and kaftans along with pant suits were a colourful presentation.
"Preppy Argyle" had checks in purple, lilac, beige and black, featuring collared tunics, dresses, wide pants with high waistbands and sexy gowns. Saris appeared with tights and minis with stockings and ruffled net capes over golden gowns.

"The Bold and the Beautiful" line was a Hollywood Red Carpet inspired look for long will-power dresses, cowl creations and evening pant suits recreating the 70s and 80s eras. The slinky gowns in shimmering brown, black, and green and with floral appliques were sensational.
The show ended in a shower of gold confetti over the ballroom as the three faces of Lakme, Lisa Haydon in a slinky red black gown, Amrit Maghera in a black gown with a net cover and Indrani Dasgupta in a gold gown walked down the ramp with Suneet Varma to thunderous applause as Saturday Night Fever by the Bee Gees set the night rocking.
Suneet Varma's Night Fever extravaganza inspired by LAKME'S NIGHT FEVER Summer 2010 collections was one of the grandest events witnessed by the glitterati of Mumbai and a perfect conclusion of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2010.

Fashion Spring/Summer

The final "Drape Story" had hints of Chinese baroque prints on kurtas and blouses. The silhouettes were loose and flowing and the mix of fabrics, embellishments and patterns made a pretty rustic collection from Paromita Banerjee for not only the Indian but international summers

Bollywood on Ramp at Satya Paul's Zippy Resort Show 2010

The collection from 25-years old label of Satya Paul was just perfect for the Summer/Resort 2010 season. With a title like "Zen, Zest, Zip, Zap and Zing" the show proved to be everything that the theme promised. Opening the show was the lovely Mandira Bedi in a green orange splashed sari with a flame red halter corset. Colours, textures and shapes in varied forms floated down the catwalk in an easy fluid mode. Crushed fabrics, textured tones of soft smooth easy silhouettes in pastels, ranging from blue, pink, peach, lemon and soft orange gave the saris and clothe the perfect mood for the season.

Puneet Nanda, the designer of the label cleverly dreamt up lehengas and saris in abstract designs while the fabric line up of organza, voile, georgette, crepe, satin, net, chiffon and brocade had the right touches of embellishments as mirror work twinkled and chikan work and aari embroidery, sequins and prints gave that glamorous fashion touch.
Anita Dogre Continued Her Love for Jaipur
It was the beauty of Jaipur that fascinated Anita Dongre once again for her two collections called "Jaipur Again". From her Anita Dongre Timeless label, it was a special offering of diffusion creations which could be mixed and matched as separates with her Anita Dongre Interpret line; so that the buyer can create a personal fashion statement. Lina Tipnis's Collection Had Turkish Flavour

The beauty of the magnificent gems at the Topkapi Palace, the swirling Turkish dervishes, the beautiful blue Iznik tiles and the 14th century Grand Bazaar of the magical city of Istanbul was the inspiration of Lina Tipnis's collection titled "Istanbul Not Constantinople" at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2010.

Blending all these intriguing facets of the Turkish capital, Lina's colour story was a neutral nude along with ivory and mahogany enhanced by rich colours of the semi precious gems.

Lina Tipnis scored a perfect ten with her Summer/Resort 2010 line which reflected the beauty of Turkey with the fabrics of India in just the right proportions.

Suneet Varma's Stunning Grand Finale Collection Was Extravagant
The Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hotel was draped with metres of fabrics cascading down from the ceiling in lush panels. Three giant silver globes rotated from the ceiling throwing twinkling stars on the walls. A windmill gently rotated to the left of the stage while a silver balcony on the right of the stage was reserved for Medieval Punditz Shai'r and Func who provided the most exciting live music for the show. As the show started, a white curtain slid back to reveal a tableau against a glittering Spanish mansion. It was time for the most spectacular show of Lakme Fashion Week Summer/ resort. 2010. Inspired by LAKME'S NIGHT FEVER Summer 2010 collections which comprised Enrich Satin Lip Color, Lip Artist, Eye Magic Black, I m pact Eyeliner, Lash Artist, Aquashine and Glide on Eye Color; Suneet Varma created a dream of a line aptly titled NIGHT FEVER that was a breathtaking vision to behold.

Spring/Summer Collection

Manish Malhotra Wove His Creative Traditional Magic

Inspired by the sea side holiday resort of St Tropez, Manish celebrated the beauty of his country, and worked with fabrics and silhouettes but gave them a young peppy stylish twist. Kurtas were one shoulder in shape, and while the dupatta went missing, there was luxurious layering. Leggings with sparkling touches were important to Manish which he teamed with kurtas. Colours were pastel with a hint of shading, while net as the base fabric, worked for a pair of dhoti pants and sheer floor length covers over sexy bikinis and transparent anarkali kurtas.

There was a distinct partiality towards the bundgala around which Manish showered his creativity. Trousers were cowled and comfortable for men's wear in different textures. Casual wear moved from white shirts with billowy sleeves to T-shirts and pastel coloured bundgala jackets with a variety of collars and closures which ranged from one to two buttons and clusters of three. Contrast piping edged collars, pockets and plackets giving the garment a contemporary feel.

Asmita Marwa's Collection was a Globe Trotter's Delight

With Boho Resort as her inspiration, Asmita Marwa's uniquely titled line "Maya 0 36'0"S/73 6'0"E" was for the jet setting woman. Checks, tie and dye and shades of resort colours appeared on muslin, linen and chiffon. Keeping the silhouettes fluid and flowing, there were touches of Turkish shapes and Indian aspects with Kalamkari and dazzling tones like red, mustard, yellow, olive and earth hues as they came together with neutral black, beige and ivory large checks and smoking rose prints.

Jumpsuits, skirts, loose flowing ponchos, halter sun dresses, kaftans and draped tops were detailed with interesting yokes, layering and attached side pockets while crushed asymmetric tunics and skirts should be great summer buys. The first group of red and white and black and white linen block checks was turned into maxis, swirling tops, mini with recycled fabric fringe and halter dress with rose knot and large rose appliques. With colour, style and creativity Asmita Marwa's Summer/Resort 2010 line will be a winner anywhere and at anytime.

Malini Ramani's Vibrantly Exotic Resort Line

Known for her sexy seductive creations with the love goddess look, Malini's vibrant garments revealed in five different stories brought together the beauty of the East with the West, to create as the designer claims, a hippie deluxe look inspired by Bollywood along with large doses of chic. Styling emerged from her favourite Moroccan kaftans look to the ethnic style of the Mayan and Aztec influences as multi coloured jumpsuits, striking sensuous gowns with touches of glitter to figure hugging cocktail dresses with tie-n-dye prints appeared on the catwalk. The look was pure summer resort wear and totally sensational.

Moving to the land of adventure Africa - Malini was inspired by the Grey Goose Zanzibar Temptation where digital zebra and snake prints on tunics and bandhini motifs in black, white and beige added drama for the sexy mini kaftans, sarong dresses, swimsuits and monokinis . For perfect resort wear the Grey Goose show by Malini Ramani, a master of this genre, will cater to the requirements of many buyers with this fabulous collection.

Paromita Banerjee had A Refreshing Rustic Youthful Range

It was an ode to Bengal and the handlooms of India from Paromita Banerjee. Called "The Laal Paar and Other Stories" the show revolved around a tale of muls, khadi, handlooms, silks, tussars, chanderi, gamchas, mix and match prints and gheras. With a mix of delicate floral and bird outlines including a rooster, the "Laal Paar" which is the traditional red border sari of Bengal , ran through the collection as the focal point of the garments.

Divided into three segments the show started with the "Off White Red Black Story" where kora hand loom tangail sleeveless dress with the Laal Paar red border was teamed with a ghera yoke dress. The kimono sleeve kaftan with temple border and the chanderi leaf green sleeve less tunic were sprinkled with floral and tree of life embroidery.

Summer Dresses

http://urbanupdater.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/babydolldress.jpg

The most important things to consider when narrowing down ones wardrobe for the summer months are very simple to keep in mind, the three Cs being a useful mnemonic for remembering. Colour, Comfort, and Cut are the primary factors that should influence any gentleman's decisions when purchasing summer wardrobe items – they are of supreme importance for a variety of reasons.

During hot summer months in Eastern Europe, light dresses and skirts come out for Eastern European women, and slacks and summer shirts come out for men. Women will wear sandals or heels and men will wear summer footwear but usually not sneakers. Western women who fear drawing too much attention by wearing breezy dresses and skirts shouldn't - Eastern European women will upstage you even when you wear what you consider to be your most provacative outfit!I’ve had my share of attending one wedding after another especially in the summer season where weddings are at they peak!

We must be smart in buying dresses that you can wear not only at your friends’ weddings but also for other special occasions! Below are 3 of my favorite dresses I’m just drooling to buy and what’s good about it? They’re all less than $100!

TIps 4 Summer Dress

http://www.hipgirlie.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/must_have_summer_dresses_02.jpg

  • Wear clothes which are made up of fabrics like cotton, linen, chino, tightly-woven lightweight wool and silk. They are lightweight, comfortable and more appropriate for the warm season.
  • Go for loose-fitting clothes because it allows air circulation throughout the body. It also helps you to avoid skin irritation caused by friction from wearing tight-fitting clothes.
  • Avoid buying clothes made of synthetic fibers because they can trap heat and perspiration. The result is your clothes might get smelly soon and you will feel even hotter.
  • For your bottoms, instead of wearing denim which is a heavy cotton material, you can opt for cotton and linen trousers since they are lighter and more appropriate for summer.
  • Always use sunblock for sun protection. And wear sunglasses if you’ll be going outdoors.
  • Use footwear that allows for more air circulation to avoid having smelly feet.

Spring summer 2010

http://blog.dhgate.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/spring-summer-2010-fashion-trends1.png
Every season gives out some new and unique designs to the fashion world. Most of the new trends are a transformation of older things. The most famous dress for this year was a design of 19th century.

Favorite color:

The color which has taken the fashion world by storm in this year is mimosa yellow. It is a variety of normal yellow. In the nature it can be seen on a soon to ripe papaya or a shining orange.

The leader in color industry, Pantone introduced this color to the fashion world. Not only in the spring and summer, but right throughout the year we have seen a decrease in the usage of dull colors. Dull and dark colors have almost left the seen in fashion industry. Mimosa yellow has become the color of the year in a quick time.

Party dress:

It is always better to set a trend in party dressing than following one. It is the order of the day now. This year has promised a need for party dresses with fringes. It has been the revolutionary trend.

Parisian Summer

Watercolor Fashion To Recreate A Parisian Summer

We all know that one of the most amazing summer hot-spots is Monet's garden in Giverny—but for most of us, hopping a plane to jet to France every other summer weekend to enjoy the water lilies is a stretch. But don't fret because recent fashion has paved the way to celebrate the pastel hues of watercolor masterpieces. We suggest mixing up your summer wardrobe with any one of these amazing options. You'll feel like a work of art in no time.

Trend Alert! Mary Janes Have A Comeback

The Mary Jane Renaissance is upon us! The once twee shoe worn with pant-suits and pleated skirts is made a serious comeback. Sleek and full of swank, Mary Janes are much more sophisticated this time around, and designers like Marc Jacobs showed just how much fun a sensible shoe could be. Whether high, low, with a chunky heel or propped on a stiletto, Mary Janes offer a dose of chicness without sacrificing too much comfort. We love the idea of wearing them with thin socks and a dress, or paired with cropped pants and a casual T-shirt. However you dress them up or down, make Mary Janes your main thing again!

Crystal-Inspired Prints Seriously Rock

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but give us a garment covered in crystals and you can count on us going wide-eyed and weak at the knees—and we're talking about a graphic designer's take on the bona-fide bling. This season's cartoon-like crystals are being unearthed in all forms, from multicolored digital prints to rad, oversized renditions on unexpected accessories. Best part about it? We've gone mining through the web for you and pulled up some of our faves, so you can infuse your summer look with a cool factor that's crystal clear. Talk about giving new meaning to "diamond in the rough!"

crystal-trend-products-1.jpg

Rad Or Bad? Would You Wear Sheer Pants?

No one can deny that the sheer trend isn't the easiest to rock—but from shirts to socks, we've managed to find ways to pull 'em off. But when it comes to pants, we have a feeling that the only ones that should be wearing them see-through style are belly dancers and fire eaters. But Alexander Wang and Valentino both showed barely there pants this year, and a quick scan of our favorite e-commerce shops show that they're is being stocked in stores. Should we be equal-opportunists when it comes to all things sheer? Tell us: Are sheer pants cool or are they transparently bonkers?

Chictopia Adds "Grandma" To Their Style Tags, Geriatric Fashion Becomes Mainstream!

Personal style community Chictopia might be one of the easiest places to go for a quick dose of inspiration, and their style filters make it easy to narrow down what you want, whether it be "Business Casual," "Geek," or "Leather." It's also a great barometer for what kinds of styles are the most relevant at the moment (disconcertingly, "Comfortable" has 10,987 photos and "Androgynous" only has 1). Most recently, they've added "Grandma" to the mix. The ubiquity of geriatric trends on the runway seems to have finally touched down in the mainstream. Loose-fitting slacks, below-the-knee skirts, and slouchy tops? Pass us a prune cocktail, honey—this is cause for celebration!

Rad or Bad? The Enigma That Is The Drop Crotch Skinny Jean

rad-or-bad-crotch-pants.jpg

We usually turn to Oak for drop-crotch pants that are actually flattering. And it's pretty much fact that skinny jeans are universally a chic, slimming pant shape. But the combination of the two leaves us confused. Yes, folks: the drop crotch skinny jean—pants that bring the crotch down to right above the mid-thigh. Are they just avant garde, or are they just a no-no? We'll leave it up to you to determine the ultimate consensus. Comment below!

Mango Spring Summer

Hola from beautiful Barcelona on the east coast of Spain! Fashion in Spain is very different to Australia… like REALLY different but very refreshing. The Spanish ladies love their lightweight, flowing dresses packed with organic colours (have not seen one mini-skirt in 2 weeks thank God) and then accessorised with endless jewellery plus a pair of killer heels almost cracking the floor beneath them.
As for the gents, slim, lightweight metallic-coloured suits seem to be in for their office wear. To compliment the suits, a slim-fitted shirt and slim tie never fail to please. As for night attire, embroidered tops with a fitted pair of jeans and a good pair of Spanish or Portuguese leather shoes. A simple clean and elegant look gets the lady tourists frothing at the mouth.
The brand I want to focus on in this dribble, is Barcelona’s own Mango a.k.a MNG. Many of the ladies would be familiar with the main Australian store in the Galleries Victoria in Sydney. You will be able to find what I am seeing in Spain now, in MNG Summer 09/10 in Sydney which I find down right impressive. Unfortunately, for us guys, we will have to wait for the HE (Homini Emerito) collection to hit Australia if at all… I heard a rumour but not sure how reliable that source is but fingers crossed. Feel free to enquire Mango directly about the menswear, perhaps it will speed things up! In the meantime, for an alternate for the menswear, Calibre and Satch have some similar pieces coming through.
In Spain, it seems as if it is a religion to shop at MNG. As I sit sipping on a cold smoothie analysing the MNG shop front I ask myself – what recession? If it is affecting Barcelona I have yet to see it. People in Spain really go that extra mile to make themselves look the very best and they do this admittedly to which I say; Bravo! A lot of people I met on my journey have said they save up to buy simply the best. Why? Because it makes them feel better. This does reflect through the Spanish way of life via hospitality, friendliness and generosity, a very happy bunch of people. Adios from Spain!

Summer Maxi Dress

Hot and then cold. Sometimes weather can creep up on you no matter how much you check the forecast. So you want to be prepared when the sun goes away that you still remain stylish, yet cozy. The ever-trendy maxi dress has proven to be more than just a comfort summer trend. Its been seen on celebrities such as Nicole Richie and Mary-Kate Olsen for months, the long dress is back and better than ever with a variety of shades, prints, patterns, cuts, and material.
With an unfamiliar name, the Maxi dress is typically a floor or ankle

length less-formal dress that is formfitting at the top and loose flowing at the bottom, cut to flow over the body. This summer maxi dresses are best paired with gladiator sandals or summer wedges and also make a perfect summer vacation outfit. Many of the long dresses have been deemed to be “bohemian” but this is not always the case. Maxi dresses can be styled according to your personality, as some of the basic solid styles are canvases open to interpretation with accessories such as bangles, charm bracelets, stud earrings, headbands, and metallic necklaces. Many dresses that incorporate a pattern such as paisley, tie-dye, or floral should be accessorized-down – (meaning hold off the the gobs of jewelry) to not take away from the dress.
If things get chilly in your neighborhood at the beach or when the sun goes down, make sure to bring along a light scarf or cardigan to cover your shoulders. The scarf is perfect if you don’t want to bear a cardi, but cardigans work best for warmth if the temperature tends to dip dramatically after dusk. The best thing to do, is keep a neutral cardigan with you, such as gray, black, off-white, or beige so that no matter which dress you choose your basic cardigan will compliment it. With one or two simple accessories you can easily adjust to different weather factors from day to night.
This month we’ve seen a great variety of maxi dresses worn on Angelina Jolie and Miranda Kerr and

mommies-to-be, Heidi Klum and Ellen Pompeo. Each celeb showcases a different dress cut, pattern, and fabric to meet their body type. Miranda Kerr blends both solid and prints into her dress while accentuating her waist with a braided leather belt. Paired with metallic sandals, Miranda keeps accessories to a minimum since the later half of her dress has such a bold print.
Angelina’s chocolate strapless dress is ever-so simple, yet classy as the silk fabric adds sheen and glamour to her look without any extra additives. This is a perfect look to throw on when the summer day is warming up as it doesn’t require much fuss. Both Heidi and Ellen chose maxi dresses that have empire waist seams to highlight their torsos, making them comfortable and versatile from warm to cooler weather.

To find which maxi dress is right for you for the rest of the summer months, explore the many options in our fashion widget. Don’t forget to make the dress your own with your favorite jewelry, shoes, headgear, and outerwear.
