Best Waterproof Mascara

By Florentyna K

Imagine this scenario wherein you have a date with your boyfriend. You obviously take great pains to look hot and sexy. You wear your classic little black dress and apply makeup to your face and eyes. You look in the mirror, visibly pleased with your appearance, particularly your smoky eyes makeup. Then, your boyfriend picks you up and you start dreaming about a romantic evening that is about to follow. Everything seems just perfect, when something goes wrong and you guys end up fighting. You being a woman take out your ultimate weapon and tears start flowing all over your cheeks. It is only then your boyfriend gives you a fearful look and runs for his dear life. Why? Because girl, your mascara has run down your cheeks making you look like a melting spider. More on the best mascara.

This is a pretty common sight and all of us have experienced it at some point of time. If it's not a fight with a boyfriend, you still get 'panda eyes' while braving a thunderstorm or sweating it out on a sunny day. The only solution to combat these emotions and elements is a waterproof mascara. So, here's how to choose the best waterproof mascara from amongst the myriad brands available in the market!

Choosing the Best Waterproof Mascara

Waterproof mascaras are basically aimed at repelling water and preventing the mascara from running down. Since, there are numerous brands that claim to offer the best waterproof mascara, finding the right one, that caters to your individual needs can be quite a tedious task. Hence, before you are out shopping for the waterproof mascara, you ought to know your needs. Do you need a mascara to protect your make up while swimming or while working out in a gym? Or perhaps, you are looking for a mascara that will sustain the blows of rough weather? Depending upon your individual need, you may choose any of the best waterproof mascaras given below.

Best Waterproof Mascara for Swimming
If you go swimming every other day, you sure need a mascara that will stand the test in water. Waterproof mascaras that effectively keep the water out of your lashes are best for this purpose. These mascaras do not smudge and leave no trace of eye makeup on your cheeks. Usually, the label on the mascara should give you an idea about the special purpose of the mascara. The only problem with this kind of mascara is that it is very difficult to remove. You may use baby oil or a water based eye makeup remover to get rid of the waterproof mascara.

Best Waterproof Mascara for Jogging
If you are a fitness freak who loves to work out in a gym or take long jogs across the park, then you sure must sweat a lot. If you wear an ordinary mascara during such times, the sweat might smudge your eye makeup. In the market, you will find a special line of mascaras that are dedicated to combating sweat while working out. The labels of these mascaras clearly mention that they are sweat resistant.

Best Waterproof Mascara for Daily Use
The best waterproof mascara for daily use is the one which stays on for long hours, without any hint of smudging. This type of mascara is essentially good at keeping off excess sweat, humidity and moisture from the eyes. Use any of the eye makeup removers available in the market to remove this type of mascara.

If you are looking for the best waterproof mascara for sensitive eyes in particular, then you should watch the label for special mascara ingredients that do not cause irritation. They also come with an anti clog formula that keeps the lashes soft and natural looking. Do not assume that a reputed brand will always offer the best mascara, instead look out for its contents and go for the one with least chemical and cosmetic ingredients.

Bridal Makeup

A bride must be look beautiful and not overdone. She's the star and has to look like a dream, her face translucent, soft and glowing. .Never forget that a compact powder and lipstick must always be carried by a relative for a quick touch up

A day before the wedding the palm and feet of the bride are decorated with "henna", in the mehandi ceremony. A Shadi Hall decorated with flowers is setup at the place of wedding. On the wedding day the bride and groom are anointed with turmeric in their respective homes.

Your skin-type is the most important thing that you have to take into account when choosing your make up. If you have normal to dry skin type, you need to wear cream based make up, and if you have oily or sensitive skin then you have to choose powder based make up.

Season also plays an important role in the selection of the make up to be used. In summer, you need to minimize your make up, as every thing tends to wash off as soon as is it is on the skin. In winter, though, you can choose to a heavier look for your face to match the heavy fabrics and dark colors of your dress.

It is necessary to decorate hands in the morning on the wedding day. Make nails soft by dipping them in lukewarm water mixed with soap and soda bicarb. Rub the nails with a filler to give them the desired shape. The dead skin on the nails can be pushed back with a nail-pusher or an orange stick, after applying olive oil on that part. Cut off the dead skin with scissors. Massage the arms with a cream. Wash hands with lukewarm water and apply hand lotion so that they get a soft and smooth look. Polish nails with nail polish. Decorate your hands with mehandi just one day prior to the wedding day. Now, scrub the feet and apply 'alta' or mahawar. One can visit a parlour for 'manicure' and 'pedicure' one day prior to wedding, if possible.

Apply Bridal Mekeup

First wash your face properly than use a light moisturizer to smoothen your skin. Select a concealer of a lighter color shadow areas of the face around the eyes and nose. Then gently apply and blend it all over the face and under the neck an oil free foundation, which will last throughout a long and hot day. Try and choose a color tone, which is slightly lighter than your skin tone but never for white. Matte foundation is best suited for Indian skin tone. It gives a natural effect. To get rid of blemishes touch up your face with a concealer. Apply translucent powder and spread evenly all over the face to get that matte effect. Proper make up should be applied to the forehead, nose and chin. The eye make up is very important so proper care should be taken for eye make-up. Use a brown tone eye shadow for softness and white makeup to lift. Use a thin line of white eyeliner on the eyelid, to highlight the eyes. Finish the line with black eyeliner and add a little black eye shadow under the eye. To highlight your lashes use black mascara. To have a detailed look brush eyebrows and apply a brown eyebrow pencil. Use a good quality lipstick, which will last. The color of your lipstick should match your dress.

Today's make up trends are mainly glossy and shimmering. Girls go for glitter and gloss. Proper and accurate make-up matching the skin tone can really make someone very attractive, beautiful and elegant. So if you are going to parlor for make up than you can opt for the following make up.

* Special waterproof makeup for monsoon wedding
* Face makeup
* Eye makeup
* Special effects makeup
* Eyes makeup
* Lips makeup
* Special party makeup for various pre-wedding functions
* Special wedding makeup

So go for that special makeup that will make you special on the most important day of your life. But keep in mind that your make should match your hairstyle and dress and it should be simple and elegant. It should not look overdone

Makeup naturally nude

Keep your makeup naturally nude & gorgeous with these easy tips from CoverGirl makeup artist Molly Stern:
  • EASY DOES IT "Keep it light," advises Stern. "The days of allover pancake coverage are gone. If you have ruddy cheeks, just apply coverage where you need it. The main thing is to keep skin fresh."
  • HIGHLIGHT A SINGLE FEATURE "Identify the feature you want to highlight. If it's your eyes, make them lined &smokey and plump up your lashes, but tone down your lip & cheek." Alternatively, go for a dramatic mouth, but keep the rest of your face neutral.
  • MASCARA: THINK BROWN, NOT BLACK "A well-defined lash line is important, but for summer, take it down a notch by using brown instead of black mascara because it gives a softer eye."
  • BLUSH FROM A BOTTLE "Cream blush is more natural than powder, because it looks like it's coming from the skin rather than sitting on top, adding rosy depth in a natural way that's not powdery." In case of beauty emergencies where you find yourself blush-bereft, rub some of your lipstick on your cheek. (Stern suggest CoverGirl TruShine lipstick - it's sheer, but still loaded with pigment.)
  • THOU SHALT NOT OVERDO SELF-TANNER Before applying the self-tanner, be sure to exfoliate with a body scrub first, especially porous areas like knees, heels & elbows. (If you accidentally go overboard, rubbing alcohol or Windex can lift some of the excess color.) "Go lighter than you think you should," says Stern. "If you’re fair, makes no sense to get Hawaiian tan. Instead, you might want to use tinted moisturizer and add a tiny bit of darker shade & get deeper look."
  • DOES YOUR FACE MATCH YOUR ENSEMBLE? "The emergence in fashion of so many gorgeous prints & florals means that it's really important to keep a balance with your makeup. Keep it fresh, and the colors neutral - a light shimmer on the eye and a nude lip looks really modern." (And don't forget to blend, blend, blend!)

Some makeup product picks to try:

  • Beauty_3 Beauty_4
  • FOUNDATION & CONCEALER As an alternative to some of the more pricey brands, Stern recommends CoverGirl Advanced Radiance Age Defying Concealer & Advanced Radiance Moisturizing Makeup. "Their motto is clean, fresh, easy, breezy, and these foundations are guaranteed to match 97% of skin tones. The colors are sheer and even contain Olay ingredients to repair and smooth, whether you're preventing the signs of aging, or trying to repair them." (Alternatively, Shu Uemura foundation can easily be thinned with water for a fab sheer foundation.) At Drugstore.com
  • Beauty_6 Beauty_5
  • POWDER TruBlend Naturally Luminous Loose Powder with Minerals "It's gorgeous for dusting some shimmer on shoulders, the back of the neck & the neckline." At Drugstore.com

Bridal Makeup Tips

http://img.xcitefun.net/users/2009/09/112495,xcitefun-special-eid-makeup-whats-new-15.jpg

Makeup is surprisingly often an overlooked item when planning your dream shaadi.
Brides always focus on planning their outfits, jewellery, hair and mehndi but don't realise that, to look amazingly stunning on their wedding day they really need to have good makeup applied by a professional. Bridal make up by its very nature is a unique requirement and your make up regime for the big day needs careful thought and consideration.

My personal approach to make-up for brides is one of corrective, subtle make-up that enhances the bride's best features and makes her look naturally radiant and beautiful on her big day.
The first thing people notice when they look at a bride - is how stunning and radiant she looks, not her makeup itself. In fact make - up that is too obvious can look overdone and artificial so understated and sophisticated elegance is the name of the game!

When it comes to applying bridal makeup, there is a correct sequence and technique to follow as well as a preparatory stage to ensure that you will be looking your absolute best.
Selection and advice on the best and most appropriate products, colours and styles is also imperative.
What works for you in your day to day use or for other special occasions will not necessarily make you look your best on your big day! This kind of in depth knowledge can only come .

Eyes

For your eyes, you can't go wrong with matt makeup with slight shimmering shadows. You should usually use a combination of colours to compliment the Brides outfit. A soft black eyeliner, (No browns) use black mascara for your wedding day, even if you're very fair and usually go for brown - it'll show up better in your photographs, smudged close to the base of you lashes on your upper lid will make your eyelashes appear thicker and, in conjunction with a little grey or dark brown eye-shadow applied with a thin brush at the base of your lower lashes, will subtly define your eyes perfectly for the photos. Use black WATERPROOF mascara on just about bride , and curl the lashes before applying it. On some occasions you even consider using false eyelashes as this gives more definition over the eyes and looks quite stunning in photographs.

Lips

For the bride's lips,Use a colour that will not clash with the bride's eyes and dress and of course her Bouquet Bearing in mind you have already primed your lips when you applied your foundation and powder by putting a suitable balm or moisturiser on them after you have done your base. By the time you are ready for lipstick to be applied, your lips will be in perfect condition-Always leave this to the very last. Use a "Nude" lip pencil over the entire lip before applying the lip colour as it gives extra staying power, apply lip-colour then blot with a tissue and reapply lipstick with a touch of gloss or a more shimmering colour to enhance the shadow of your bottom lip and a slight touch over the top lip.

Finally

The most important tip is to allow yourself a good three hours to get ready as this gives your beautician plenty of time to work her magic and make you look stunning. More importantly it will give you some all-important chill out time away from your interfering aunties. Before you make an entrance, a quick check and powder before you leave for the ceremony, and your Dulha will be totally bowled over PLUS you will look fantastic in the photos of your dream shaadi!

Eye makeup

Determine your skin type that whether it has warm or cool undertones.

1. If you have darker skin, accentuate your eyes with shadows and liners whose colors are richer and deeper in intensity.
Enhance a warm complexion with shadows that range between soft colored shadows.

Choose liners that are soft to rich brown, and opt for brown or brown.

2.Complement cooler complexions with shadows in varying shades of blue, purple and pink.
Go with liners that are slate gray to soft purple, and wear black or dark gray mascara.
Green flatters skin that has both warm and cool undertones.
Blue-greens complement cooler complexions, and brownish, earthy greens enhance warmer ones.

3.Add glamour to a warm complexion with coppery or golden shadow.

4. Pearly purple or silvery blue shadows will glamorize a cooler skin tone.

Eye makeup

Almost every lady want to know how to apply eye makeup in just ten minutes? So here is some steps for you ladies. By following these steps you can make your beautiful eyes more gorgeous and beautiful.

To cover dark undereye circles, apply three dots of concealer under each eye. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest, then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge.
Pat, never rub with your ring finger (this finger tends to have the softest pad) until it disappears.
It would b much better to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow. Allowing them to blend into each other is gorgeous.

• Start with a light color that almost matches your lid. Sweep the color across the lid and up to your brow bone.

• Follow with a medium color across your lid only.

• Build on this with a darker color in the crease. Blend the colors well.

Dark eyeshadows work great as eyeliners. Wet a slanted brush, then dip in a dark eyeshadow. Line eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner. Follow with liner on bottom eyes, but only line from the middle of the eye out. Smudge the bottom line with a Q-tip or your finger.

You don't want a prominent line. For a smokey eye, use a brush to pat in a dark eyeshadow along the upper lid and below the lid. You don't want a stark line, instead you want to blend it so it's 'smudge-y.'

This step involves only the inside part of the eye. With a gold or pink highlighter draw a v-shaped shape that follows the inner corner of your eye from top to bottom. Blend with your fingers.

1. Highlight your eye brow

Take the same highlighter and dab it on your browbone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend with your finger.

2. Curl your eye lashes

An eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more gorgeous.

3. Apply mascara on your eyes

Place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggle back and forth. Apply to bottom lashes as well.

Celebrity Makeup Artist

http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/makeupartist.jpg

If you are one of the millions of women who look for the inside scoop on the upcoming season's "must have" products, get ready to fall in love with a big, fat mascara in a little orange tube! The award-winning CoverGirl LashBlast mascara has become an instant hit with celebrities, makeup artists and consumers.

CoverGirl Celebrity Makeup Artist Molly Stern, who works with Hollywood lovelies like Amy Adams and Selma Blair has experienced first-hand the reasons why this mascara should be every woman's must-have beauty staple this summer. In her career of working with Hollywood celebrities, Stern has accumulated an enviable arsenal of beauty tips and tricks; with the Memorial Day weekend just around the corner, Stern has some timely advice for all women looking to add star power to their summer look with her simple guidelines.

First, as skin complexions get naturally sun-kissed with the warmer weather, it's extra-important to choose a lightweight foundation that blends easily with a woman's unique tones. "I love CoverGirl's TruBlend Liquid Makeup because it takes the guess work out of shade selection. Finding the perfect shade of foundation can be so difficult and it is the number one complaint that I receive from my clients," explains Stern. "To minimize the confusion, CoverGirl TruBlend Liquid Makeup has a technology that is actually able to detect the pigments and shading of your natural skin and then imitate them -- creating a flawless complexion in an instant."

"After using foundation only where you need it, take your palms and press them all over your face," advises Stern. "This is one of my favorite beauty secrets -- this simple step gets the blood circulating, and 'sets' your makeup into your skin, giving it an illuminating summer glow."

Eyes are the next areas of focus for Stern. "In summertime, a simple coat of volumizing mascara is the season's best bet. CoverGirl LashBlast's lightweight formula creates a soft, full fan of lashes with tons of volume. I particularly like using a brown shade in sunnier weather, for a look that balances amplified fullness with softly natural color. As an added bonus, if your holiday plans involve hitting a beach or a pool, there's a waterproof version too!"

Lastly, Stern recommends finishing off the look with a sheer gloss such as CoverGirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers. Available in 12 fruity flavors, this yummy gloss provides a hint of color to perfectly polish your pout.

Molly's final tip, "Less is more when applying makeup! For summer, a natural, glowing complexion accessorized with a volumizing mascara and lip gloss is all you need to look perfectly ready for this easy breezy season."

Makeup Move

red-lipstick-makeup-beauty-2.jpg

1. Choose The Right Red:
"The best way to choose a red lipcolor is to swipe different shades on a white piece of paper to see the true undertones of the color," she says. "Cooler-toned reds are great for light-skinned ladies, medium skin looks awesome with true fire-engine reds, and dark skin looks amazing in blood reds." If you're too nervous about choosing the right shade, fear not! "There are a few cases of universal red shades," adds Carmindy. "Like Sally Hansen Color Comfort Lip Color in Soft Red. I helped Sally Hansen design that shade to work on everyone. And, if you don't want to commit to a full-on red lip, try a red gloss that will wear more sheer."

2. Don't Let It Bleed:
We hate the way a really red lip always ends up feathering and making us look like we've been on a bender. To stop the bleeding, Carmindy advises, "Rim the outside of the lips with a highlighting clear lipliner like Guerlain Cupidon lipliner. For long-wearing lipstick, dab on a lip stain like Benetint, line the lips and fill them in with a matching red lipliner, and then apply lipstick."

Richard Chai, Roksanda Ilincic, Tory Burch, Karen Walker—designers from New York and London all the way to New Zealand have been bringing back the really red lip. Sure, we have Mad Men to thank for this classic beauty move's world-wide return, but since we're kind of tired of that whole retro reference, we're using the runways as our inspiration du jour. Keep in mind though: The red lip may seem like a fairly straightforward concept, but choosing the wrong shade can have disastrous results (ashy skin, yellow teeth, think serious Mommie Dearest moment). To avoid such pitfalls, we've asked our makeup artist/guru friend Carmindy to school us on the art of The Perfect Red Lip. And if you want more beauty tips that won't make your head spin, be sure to snap up Carmindy's third book, "Crazy Busy Beautiful," which hits April 1.

Spring Makeup

Spring makeup has long had a relationship with shine: glossy lips, lacquered nails, gleaming tresses, and glowing skin. But this season, an unexpected matte look puts the high polish archetype on spin-cycle with absolutely-no-shimmer lips, eyes, nails, and skin....and we kind of love it! Thankfully, these products are far from boringly flat; instead, the effect is versatile and minimalist-cool with elegant neutrals and edgy brushed metals (perfect for those who eschew glitter). As if the warmer weather wasn't enough, we're besotted with truly wearable reasons to dull things down this spring.

Peek Season: Sephora's single color matte shadow is highly pigmented and perfect for a simple lid-sweeping wash or high-impact blending. Sephora Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in Caffe Latte, $12, available at Sephora.

About Face: A just-powdered complexion is certainly chicer than a greasy mug. Combat shine throughout the day with oil-controlling gel (worn under makeup) or on-the-go oil-absorbing sheets. Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets, $5.99, available at Drugstore.com; Laura Mercier Secret Finish Mattifying, $27, available at Laura Mercier.

Kiss and Tell: Makeup artist Dick Page used a delicate pink, matte lip at Zero + Maria Cornejo's fall show to contrast the collection's tough style. Shiseido's new matte lipstick has added moisture for easy application and also contains their Smoothing Matte Powder that attracts oil and fills in lines. Tip: exfoliate lips before applying, and dab lipstick on with fingers for perfect coverage. Shiseido Perfect Rogue Matte Lipstick in Whisper, $25, available at Macys. Zero + Maria Cornejo backstage.

Nail It: Matte nails have surged in popularity, yet Orly's Metal Chic collection—with brushed nickel, gold or copper finishes—is a first to the market and free of DBP and all traces of toluene, formaldehyde, and formaldehyde resin. Orly Solid Gold, $7.50 each, available at Orly Beauty.

Bare Minerals makeup has no dyes, no chemicals, no fillers, no oils, no fragrances and no preservatives. Bare minerals makeup doesn't clog pores, and bare minerals makeup is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties which make it great for soothing easily irritated skin.

Bare Minerals makeup is easy to wear and so light that it doesn't even feel like you're wearing any makeup at all. It's perfect for even the most sensitive skin. The ingredients zinc oxide and titanium dioxide which are used in mineral makeup block ultraviolet rays naturally, so your skin is also protected from harmful sun when wearing Bare Minerals makeup.

The mineral makeup is highly prized for being so lightweight. Wearers are amazed at how seamlessly the makeup blends into the skin so that it doesn't look like they're wearing any. It is so lightweight, in fact, that many users even wear it all night because it will not clog pores which makes it safe to wear at night without having to fear blemishes. The natural minerals also reflect light and this aids in hiding wrinkles and fine lines, giving the skin a healthy, beautiful glow.

Bare Minerals makeup is perfect for people who suffer from acne because it is inorganic and extremely water resistant. This prevents bacteria from forming and growing. This also makes Bare Minerals makeup good for other types of skin conditions as well. Bare Minerals makeup is one of the safest, gentlest makeup for all skin types. The makeup comes in different colors that can also be blended to match your skin color perfectly. Bare Minerals makeup can easily be found in many places online and is well worth the investment for a makeup that does so many great things for your skin

Go Sheer With Our Makeup Trend Du Jour

It only took one above-90-degree day to make us start pining for kiddie pools and cherry popsicles. But the heavy heat also has us longing for makeup, dresses, and blouses that are as light as arctic air. Thankfully, fashion's sheer trend has inspired a slew of makeup and skincare products that mix a flush of summer color with some barely there formulations. Think berry-washed lips, sun-kissed cheeks, and just enough shimmer to make your skin really shine. From rosy lip stains to moisture-packed face tints, these sheer essentials are a hot summer girl's best-friend.

Streak Your Hair With These DIY Tips!

Feeling in need of a 'do-over? Why not try this season's most daring hair trend and add some shocking streaks to your locks. For a more colorful approach, channel the runways and add streaks of bright color through temporary clip-in extensions or colored styling gel. Wella Professionals lead colorist Eva Scrivo, owner of Eva Scrivo Salon in NYC, created dimension at Cynthia Rowley fall '10 by adding custom-made jewel-toned natural extensions. Wanna keep it more natural? Go for creamy chunks on the ends of hair with some gently lightened pieces around the face. "The beachy style is easy to maintain and won't wash your skin tone out as long as you still have darker pieces near your face," recommends Erin Bogart of Sally Hershberger Downtown. Just buy a box of temporary hair dye and use your fingers to streak face-framing bits and pieces. Wear your hair messy and it won't matter how imperfect the streaks look—lucky for you, this trend looks even better when done haphazardly!

Try Summer's Bright Makeup Trends Now!

There's something contagiously fun about bright, bold makeup colors. While we love the easy, breezy sun-kissed look, that visual shock to the system delivered by a techno lip, vivid eyeshadow, or strong cheek has crushed any lingering ambivalence we have about making a daring summer statement. This season's foray into high-wattage makeup colors is sassy, playful, and evocative of the spirited '80s pop star vibe, but take care not to overdo it and don it all at once—remember, there can be only one Cyndi Lauper! So zero in on one feature for a beauty trend that packs a simple yet stunning punch of color.

Eye Tech

For tasteful, showstopping eyes, makeup maestro and international lead makeup artist for NARS Cosmetics, Uzo, shows us the way. "Brighter eye shadows will add depth and intensity to the face, especially when applied along the upper lash line, or as part of a smoky eye summer routine," she says. "Pair a taupe or plum shadow with the turquoise side of NARS Burn It Blue Duo Cream Eyeshadow along the lash line or use a dark black or gray color all over the lid. Then, layer a small amount of Burn It Blue's ocean blue shimmer all over the dark shade, blending the shadow seamlessly into the crease."

New Nail Polish Changes Colors With Your Mood

mood-nail-polish-colors.jpg

Remember way back when mood rings were cool? Well, we still think they're pretty rad (in a funny nostalgic way), and apparently we're not the only ones. Perfect Formula is reinventing the mood ring, but this time in the form of a fingertip fad—nail polish. The top-secret special formula changes your shade from cool colors to warm bright hues depending on your body heat, which triggers the polish to magically transform. And around here, it's no big secret we're big fans of nail art, so this trend may just become our newest obsession. The collection launches in June, so be patient and don't get moody! (Stylelist)

I DIY! Sexy Beach Hair Made Easy

Few accessories offer a girl as many opps for experimentation during summer-time as your hair. And because we're already day-dreaming about those first few sandy weekend romps in Montauk and Maine, we've decided to get our sexy beach-hair routine down pat. Since the bottom line for truly successful summer hairstyles is always a 'do that is super easy, we've enlisted mane experts to school us in the art of perfectly wild, perfectly textured and tousled beach hair. Our own R29 tips? Weave in a little relaxed braid on one or both sides, letting the ends fray a bit to make the look even more castaway chic. Or, post-product (and especially for shorter hair), try twisting up the ends and securing with a few bobby-pins here and there to get a messy-elegant up-do that's pretty much as easy as a day at the beach.

bumble-bumble-surf-spray-beach-hair-2.jpg

Instant Beach Hair DIY! Bumble and bumble's Editorial Stylist Sabrina Michals tells us how to get that sexy beach hair look nice and easy.

1. To get that great beachy ropey texture start with damp hair and spritz with a texturizer like Surf Spray, $22, part hair into six sections and loosely braid. Spritz each braid with a soft- to medium-hold styling spray like Does it All Hairspray, $22.

2. Blast each braid with a blowdryer until dry, or sleep on the braids.

3. Gently unravel the braids and rake fingers through hair. Spray a little with Bumble and bumble Hair Powder, $35, to create more texture.

4. Use the pads of your fingertips and massage hair along the crown to create some cool flyaways and a subtle lift at the crown.

5. You can also use an 1 1/4" curling iron to create a few face framing waves. Wind the hair around the curling iron, twisting the hair a bit to create a bit of ropiness, leave about an inch of hair out of the iron, so the ends remain flat. The flat ends give the look a more unstructured cool-girl vibe instead of being too pretty. Rake hands thru the curled pieces to loosen.

Tom Ford and Alice + Olivia Launch New Makeup We Want

Oh Tom Ford, how do we love thee? We know you've probably heard through the grapevine that the ever-unbuttoned one is launching his own signature set of lipsticks, and here are the pretty pics to prove it. Yes, the long-awaited Private Blend Lip Color Collection finally launches this week, and it's definitely got our name on it. The range includes 12 classic shades—from the perfect nude to the richest red—designed to flatter every skin-tone and offer just the right amount of moisture and shine, thanks to Soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter, and chamomilla flower oil. We love how each lipstick is emblazoned with the TF logo and housed in white lacquered cases with sharp, gold-accented edges. A power lippy, if we ever saw one.

But Tom's not the only one with new makeup on his mind. Alice + Olivia has teamed up with M.A.C. for a limited-edition collection of products launching July 8. Embodying a subtly outrageous spirit, Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet turns on the bright lights with a candy-colored line that boasts fabric swatch-inspired packaging and makeup in vibrant shades. She's crafted M.A.C.'s pigments into silvery turquoise, brilliant white and vividly intense, deep purple shades; added complementary turquoise and purple nail polish colors with a sparkling black matte to boot; and her version of Dazzleglass Crème gloss comes in shocking yet sheer fuchsia, yellow, and pale cotton-candy pink that are perfect alone or layered over lipstick for a slick pop of color.

New Book From Clark's Botanicals' Founder Will Change Your Life

walking-papers-francesco-clark-01.jpg

We've always been die-hard fans of Clark's Botanicals, the skincare line founded by Francesco Clark. Whenever we pop into Saks or Bendels, we hot-foot it to the beauty counter to pick up their awesome anti-puff eye cream or some of their killer lip balm. But, in case all you know of the brand is the super-cute green packaging, this new book: Walking Papers: The Accident that Changed My Life, and the Business that Got Me Back on My Feet by company founder Francesco Clark, will forever change your beauty perception. The tome goes on sale today and documents how a 24-year-old Clark dived into a swimming pool and suffered a spinal cord injury which left him paralyzed from the neck down. One of the results of the accident was that Francesco lost the ability to sweat out toxins, leaving a painful skin condition that gave him everything from acne to rosacea. To combat the damage, he worked with his father and began mixing natural ingredients in his kitchen, using his mom and sis as guinea pigs. What started out as a science experiment is now a major cosmetics firm, with part of the profits going to support research for spinal cord injuries. Though the book is in the same vein as Three Cups Of Tea or a A Million Little Pieces, it's really a memoir that's sui generis— a must-read for anyone who's got the balls to take some really shitty lemons and make lemonade—or, in this, case, nourishing youth serum.
