Get Carmen Kass' Golden Glow Even If You Have Pale Skin

carmen-cass-cfda-beauty.jpg

With summer just around the corner, getting a nice tan may be at the top of your beauty to-do list. But as Carmen Kass showed at the CFDA Fashion Awards, a caramel complexion can be overrated. For girls with paler skin, Kass shows how easy it is to look absolutely radiant by going heavy with a warm, coppery blush, and pairing it with a plum lip color, and an all-over highlighting powder. So keep slathering on your SPF 50, but stay luminous this season with our product picks to recreate the look

Tom Ford and Alice + Olivia Launch New Makeup We Want

Oh Tom Ford, how do we love thee? We know you've probably heard through the grapevine that the ever-unbuttoned one is launching his own signature set of lipsticks, and here are the pretty pics to prove it. Yes, the long-awaited Private Blend Lip Color Collection finally launches this week, and it's definitely got our name on it. The range includes 12 classic shades—from the perfect nude to the richest red—designed to flatter every skin-tone and offer just the right amount of moisture and shine, thanks to Soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter, and chamomilla flower oil. We love how each lipstick is emblazoned with the TF logo and housed in white lacquered cases with sharp, gold-accented edges. A power lippy, if we ever saw one.

But Tom's not the only one with new makeup on his mind. Alice + Olivia has teamed up with M.A.C. for a limited-edition collection of products launching July 8. Embodying a subtly outrageous spirit, Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet turns on the bright lights with a candy-colored line that boasts fabric swatch-inspired packaging and makeup in vibrant shades. She's crafted M.A.C.'s pigments into silvery turquoise, brilliant white and vividly intense, deep purple shades; added complementary turquoise and purple nail polish colors with a sparkling black matte to boot; and her version of Dazzleglass Crème gloss comes in shocking yet sheer fuchsia, yellow, and pale cotton-candy pink that are perfect alone or layered over lipstick for a slick pop of color.

Beauty Secrets From The Like

the-like-beauty-image.jpg

The Like is back with their sophomore album, Release Me, and they've got a brand new look to go along with their '60s girl-group sound. The fab foursome is glammed out, dolled up, and looking better than ever, and a huge part of that is their incredible take on that iconic mod makeup (think The Shangri-Las meet Edie Sedgwick). We're obsessed with the heavy eye Z's been sporting, the flipped and teased hair makes us swoon, and there's nothing like a pretty pale lip to make us want to run to our local beauty supply store and go a little nuts. So get your falsies out and have your Bump-Its handy, because we've asked our fave local girl group to dish on all their makeup must-haves.

You guys have nailed that dreamy girl group glamour—big hair, swooping eyeliner, super-long lashes. What do you use to get this iconic look before each show?

New Book From Clark's Botanicals' Founder Will Change Your Life

walking-papers-francesco-clark-01.jpg

We've always been die-hard fans of Clark's Botanicals, the skincare line founded by Francesco Clark. Whenever we pop into Saks or Bendels, we hot-foot it to the beauty counter to pick up their awesome anti-puff eye cream or some of their killer lip balm. But, in case all you know of the brand is the super-cute green packaging, this new book: Walking Papers: The Accident that Changed My Life, and the Business that Got Me Back on My Feet by company founder Francesco Clark, will forever change your beauty perception. The tome goes on sale today and documents how a 24-year-old Clark dived into a swimming pool and suffered a spinal cord injury which left him paralyzed from the neck down. One of the results of the accident was that Francesco lost the ability to sweat out toxins, leaving a painful skin condition that gave him everything from acne to rosacea. To combat the damage, he worked with his father and began mixing natural ingredients in his kitchen, using his mom and sis as guinea pigs. What started out as a science experiment is now a major cosmetics firm, with part of the profits going to support research for spinal cord injuries. Though the book is in the same vein as Three Cups Of Tea or a A Million Little Pieces, it's really a memoir that's sui generis— a must-read for anyone who's got the balls to take some really shitty lemons and make lemonade—or, in this, case, nourishing youth serum.
