Ladies Floral Dresses

Floral Dress

A floral dress is a dress having a pattern which resembles flowers. The floral prints can either be shown in an appliqué, embroidered, printed, or weaved. Floral dresses suggest femininity, and the flower patterns are usually seen in skirts, mini dresses and maxi dresses.

Floral dresses are usually worn during the summer since they have a tropical feel. In fact, floral dresses are great for beach wear. Although floral dresses are commonly associated with girls, some men also prefer floral patterns for board shorts or summer wear.

Floral dresses can also reflect tradition, ethnicity and cultural heritage. Some folkloric traditional costumes like the kimono dress or the Korean hanbok dress use floral designs.

The most common flower patterns used in floral dresses are roses, rosebuds and peony, perhaps because of their romantic appeal. Moreover, the floral patterns can be small or as big as cabbage roses.

Tips for wearing floral dress

  • Floral dresses can sometimes be overpowering so make the rest of your outfit simple. For instance, you can match a red floral skirt with a simple white blouse or a white tank top.
  • If you want to spice up your outfit a bit, you can add one statement piece like a nice scarf, handbag, jewelry or shoes.
  • Make sure that the size of the floral pattern is proportional with your body. If you’re petite, do not wear dresses with bold and bright floral patterns as they tend to make you look smaller. On the other hand, if you’re full-figured, avoid wearing small floral patterns as they make you look bigger.
