A Splash

One of my favorite designers, Bottega Veneta, just revealed the newest collection for Spring 2010 at Milan Fashion Week. The collections always inspire me and this collection in particular made me reflect upon the balance of color. You can say so much with just a little color. Who else, but a bride, understands that best? Of his work on the collection, Bottega Veneta's creative director Tomas Maier said, "The clothes are meant to be a backdrop, a blank canvas, so the wearer can play with color and accessories to change the look and make it her own." For this collection, I've picked up on Maier's subtle use of color and paired my favorite runway looks with weddings where the bride also picked up on the same color sensibilities. Maybe some of these brides should be working for Bottega Veneta as well.
Believe it or not, style.com wrote that Maier's "concept of the neutral background came when he saw a group of children being dropped off at a karate class in Florida, where he lives: "I liked the look of the canvas, and that became my color card—white, cream, straw. And the idea of the soft belt." Yesterday we were chatting about colored sashes over on Twitter and whether or not they had seen their last and final day. The verdict is still in but it doesn't look like fashion is dropping the colored belt anytime soon. For the rest of the Bottega Veneta collection, check out today's Daily Inspiration gallery.
